buddy-walk-imageThe Buddy Walk was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The name Buddy Walk promotes inclusion between friends of every ability.

The DSAWT hosts a Buddy Walk each year in Jackson, TN in late September or October. Individuals with Down syndrome, their families, neighbors, friends, teachers, school groups, and many others in the community come together for a special day of recognition and fellowship. Anyone can be a Buddy!  Check our events calendar for the next Buddy Walk.

The 2019 DSAWT Buddy Walk is Saturday, Oct. 5th at Union University in Jackson, TN on the Great Lawn, under the clock tower. Registration starts at 1:00 pm and the walk begins at 2:00 pm. Personalized Buddy Walk signs for your child or loved one!

We are excited to have signs to honor our buddies at this year’s Buddy Walk! These will be placed around our walking path the day of the Buddy Walk and families can take them home at the end of the day. The signs will be 18″ x 24″ corrugated plastic with a wire stake to anchor them in the ground. They will be full color on both sides and will include a picture that you submit  of your loved one. The picture will need to be high resolution to prevent graininess when they are printed.
There are two options for securing a sign for your child or loved one:
  1. Any family or team that raises $100 for the Buddy Walk (not including tee shirt sales) will receive a sign free of charge.
  2. Signs can be purchased for $20. Payment and picture will have to be received before they are ordered.
Payment (donations) and picture will have to be received before they are ordered.
All sign orders, pictures, payments, and donations must be received by Sept 20th.
Please email your pictures to Amy Allen at amy.allen@trentonssd.org.
Payments can be mailed to Amy Allen at 5135 Wahl Street, Milan, TN 38358.
