The Buddy Walk was established in 1995 by the National Down Syndrome Society to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome. The name Buddy Walk promotes inclusion between friends of every ability.
The DSAWT hosts a Buddy Walk each year in Jackson, TN in late September or October. Individuals with Down syndrome, their families, neighbors, friends, teachers, school groups, and many others in the community come together for a special day of recognition and fellowship. The 2018 DSAWT Buddy Walk is Saturday, Oct. 27th at Union University in Jackson, TN on the Great Lawn, under the clock tower. Registration starts at 9 am and the walk begins at 10 am. Registration for the DSAWT Buddy Walk is FREE! Buddy Walk t-shirts are available in long and short sleeve. T-shirts are $15/Adult and $10/Youth. To guarantee a shirt, registration forms and shirt payment must be received by October 8. You can register the day of the Buddy Walk but extra shirts will be limited. - Any family or team that raises $100 for the Buddy Walk (not including tee shirt sales) will receive a sign free of charge.
- Signs can be purchased for $20. Payment and picture will have to be received before they are ordered.
